Lifecake Family & Baby Photos App Reviews

Before the birth of our precious daughter I went searching for an app that would be easy enough for her grandparents to use, while allowing for a great storage of all of our memories with her. After playing around and weeding through the many apps available I settled on LifeCake....and I am glad I did. The app allows you to designate "administrators" to keep track, edit, monitor what is going on. This is in addition to "family" members who can post pictures/videos/stories to their content. I love the ease of use of this app. My father-in-law uses this app ALL of the time, to catch up on his granddaughter while he is on the other side of the country. We love the timeline that breaks down uploads to the age of the baby, including gestational age prior to birth. Really cool feature. Plus the slideshow feature is awesome if you want a random look of your collection. LifeCake allows you to upload 10GB of pictures, videos, stories for free, but charge a reasonable $36/year or $5/month for unlimited uploads after that. And if you are anything like our family you will need the unlimited (we are at 7.5GB and she is only 7 weeks old!!). Pick this app up NOW if you are a new parent!!

Absolutely awesome!!! Have be using it since day 1, and my daughter will be 18months on Friday! So nice for family and friends who live away from us! Couldnt live without it!!

Best app out there -- really easy to use (even for grandparents) and the functionality is everything I need. Highly recommended for new parents.

Life cake is a great alternative to posting your baby pics all over Facebook. Im a bit of an introvert and although I post the occasional photo on FB Id rather limit most of them to just close family and a couple of friends. (I know that can be done on FB but its a pain and does not work well in the mobile app) This app is easy enough for the grandparents to use. We can easily post both photos and videos and it comes with a good amount of free space. The only criticism that I have is about the notifications. By default it sends them out every time someone loves, comments, or uploads a photo. This is too much for most people and although the settings can be customized, I have found that my connections complain or even uninstall rather than adjusting the settings. Maybe the app should ask for your preferences when you first install it?

Seems like active development on this app & service has essentially stopped since Canon purchased them. Its such a shame because although the service itself is solid, the app continues to be ridiculously buggy (especially with iCloud Photo Library) and its not optimized for iPhone 6 screen sizes. Live Photos are perfect for Lifecake, but it doesnt support those either. I really hope things get back on track. My previous (glowing) review is below. Most of it holds, except for the regularly updated app part: ----------- Lifecake, both its app and its web service, is exactly what we were looking for. The app is updated regularly with new features and improvements. Love the "Shake" feature in this release (could have been in the last release but I didnt see it). Im a proud VIP member and would highly recommend it to other families. A few favorite features: - photos and videos are displayed chronologically, regardless of what order you upload them. - focus on childs age in the photo - Shake slideshow feature (would be nice to have Airplay integration on that one) - "add a kid" button. Wish it was that easy.

New grandparent again and love being to see baby pictures all the time. All the events are captured. Love, love, love this app.

For some reason I cannot see all the pics my daughter posts. Either I will see only 1 or 2 or I wont see any. Ive checked my settings and they are the same as my sisters and she sees everything. I have tried deleting and reloading the app and then sometimes I see more pics. It is not ideal to have to keep deleting and reinstalling the app. Ugh

Best app to keep in touch with daily photos and privately

Although I love this app there are a few things I wish where better. First the app is so easy to use. Lets all the family members see our little one with out having to send them all the photos or post on Facebook. Even my grandparents can easily use it. Down fall for some reason the flashback never works I think it worked the first week but never has again. Its just a black screen with the age at the bottom. I really wish it would work.

Perfect to have when a child lives far away from grandparents & other family. Its like our own private little place away from social media.

I was introduced to Lifecake when my first grandchild was born and I really enjoyed the privacy and peace of mind it offered. Now I have 4 grandchildren and they are all in Lifecake. Great app and not full of junk like some other apps.

Do not like how they send everyone who is invited to your page an email for every little thing that happens, every like, every comment. It just gets to me way to much. The lay out of the app is not very functional. It would be better in a calendar setting so you can see they day, and progression.
